"Choosing to read for pleasure makes us all storytellers. Our imaginations expand, we make better sense of ourselves and others, and our well-being deepens. In essence, reading for pleasure makes us better at being human."

    About Book Squad

HarperCollins Childrens Books, Farshore, Barrington Stoke and Collins have come together to create Book Squad, the home of primary school reading for pleasure.

We know what an amazing impact reading can have on children’s development and wellbeing. And we’re glad to see that we’re not the only ones shouting about how great books are – the updated DfE Reading Framework focuses on how encouraging children to love reading can have a hugely positive impact across their learning.

However, we know how hard it can be to inspire children to love reading and to keep up to date with the best books on offer.

That’s why we’ve created Book Squad, to help you embed a reading culture in your school. Discover reading recommendations for all ages and interests, whole class resources and in-depth research. Gain inspiration from case studies demonstrating the small initiatives that can make a big difference to your pupils.

And, discover amazing authors and illustrators sharing their top tips and tricks as well as keeping you up to date with all the best books!

Reading for pleasure does not have to be another task to fit into your timetable – we want to help teachers to make it everyone’s favourite time of the week.

But we also want to hear from you – if you’ve done something amazing to inspire future readers, or want to suggest a topic for a reading list, please do get in touch.
