Author
Mio Debnam, Prepared for publication by Collins Big Cat
Mio Debnam is the author of over 20 books ranging from picture books to novels. She’s also a wife, mother to two kids, and has two dogs. She’s Japanese and was born in Tokyo but grew up mostly in Hong Kong and the UK, dreaming about becoming an intrepid animal scientist and writer, like her heroes David Attenborough, Jane Goodall and Gerald Durrell.
Mio studied medical microbiology and genetic engineering at university, but got distracted from science by a job in finance, before finding her way back to working with words.
She spent many years as an editor in chief of two children’s newspapers and as a children’s book editor for a publisher, but her greatest passion is in writing and storytelling. Mio loves sharing stories and giggles, and still enjoys regaling readers and unsuspecting passers-by of all ages with strange and fascinating facts…
